  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 3 oz heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a tube pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with hot water until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  4. Beat softened butter until creamy, gradually add sugar, and mix until fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk mixed with vanilla extract into the batter.
  7. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Stir cocoa mixture into remaining batter and pour over the first layer.
  8. Bake for 70-80 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
