- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion (chopped)
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic (minced)
- 1 ¾ cups beef broth
- 1 28 oz can fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 15 oz can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 15 oz can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Sauté chopped onion for about 2 minutes until softened.

- Mix in chili powder, cumin, brown sugar, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato paste.
- Pour in beef broth; scrape the bottom of the pot to release flavor bits.
- Add fire-roasted tomatoes and beans; stir well.
