  • 5 cups chicken broth

  • 2 cups tortellini (refrigerated or frozen)
  • 3 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • 1 pinch cayenne (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • Salt/ to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the sausage with diced onions until soft. Drain excess grease and add minced garlic for an additional minute.
  2. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add spices and mix well.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the pot to release flavorful bits. Mix in heavy cream and bring to a boil before reducing to a simmer.
  4. Add kale and tortellini; simmer for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed before serving hot.
