Description

The Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake Trifle is a spectacular dessert that embodies summer celebrations and festive occasions. With its vibrant layers of fresh strawberries, blueberries, and a luscious cream cheese filling, this trifle is not only visually stunning but also incredibly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pints strawberries, rinsed and sliced
  • 2 pints blueberries, rinsed
  • 1 pre-made angel food cake, sliced
  • 2 (8 oz) containers cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for syrup)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth; gradually add cooled syrup. In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form and fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
  3. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer sliced angel food cake at the bottom. Drizzle with syrup, then add layers of strawberries and blueberries followed by the cream mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Chill for at least two hours before serving.
