  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar (sifted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red and purple food coloring, white vinegar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for about 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool before frosting with cream cheese frosting made by beating cream cheese and butter together then gradually adding confectioners' sugar.
