  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 & 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup patriotic sprinkles
  • For the frosting: 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened), 2 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar, pinch of sea salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 & 1/2 tablespoons whole milk, patriotic sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until well combined, then fold in patriotic sprinkles.
  5. Press mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-28 minutes or until lightly golden.
  6. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. For frosting, whip softened butter and powdered sugar together; add salt, vanilla, and milk until light and fluffy.
  8. Frost cooled cookie bars generously, sprinkle with more patriotic sprinkles if desired, then cut into squares.
