  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup butter (melted)
  • For Topping: ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin by greasing it or lining it with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Create a well in the center.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the well of dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; some lumps are okay.
  5. Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with batter.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  7. While baking, mix sugar and cinnamon in one bowl and melt remaining butter in another.
  8. After cooling for about five minutes, dip each muffin top in melted butter and then coat with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
