- 2 oz heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased and lined 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix vegetable oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla until combined.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients; stir until just blended.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For frosting, beat egg whites with brown sugar over a double boiler until warm; then beat until stiff peaks form. Gradually mix in room temperature butter and dulce de leche.
- Assemble the cake by layering frosting between the cooled cake layers and on top.
