Ingredients
- 1 (12-14 oz) loaf of french bread, sourdough, or challah
- 8 oz full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
- 3 tbsp confectioners’ sugar
- 8 large eggs
- 2 ¼ cups whole milk
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half in the dish.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth, then blend in confectioners’ sugar. Spoon over the bread cubes and cover with remaining cubes.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until combined. Pour evenly over the bread layers. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare the topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cubed butter until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of the casserole.
- Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
