  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 56 grams unsalted butter (melted)
  • 106 grams light brown sugar
  • 113 ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 125 grams confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease a doughnut pan lightly.
  3. In one bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until smooth.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just blended.
  6. Fill each cavity of the doughnut pan two-thirds full with batter.
  7. Bake for 11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool for five minutes before transferring to a cooling rack and glaze.
